A bunch of random ideas on improving Typo, that came during MKW1601 class. Cool lecturer, but somehow the subject makes me think of everything else during lecture.

Typo Visitor Plugins

1. Comments with photos
2. Who’s reading now
3. Global profiles - read from blogspot, xanga, etc profiles
4. Automatically link to visitor sites?
5. Collect visitor properties

Geographic Tracking

1. Detect visitor locations
2. Collect visitor info
3. Show as “Visitor from Guatemala”
4. Local Map for travel photos, entries, visitors, etc.

Linking to friends

1. Full separate page of links
2. Last updated info (RSS?)
3. Sparks for new entries past n days
4. Randomize links (based on Bayesian content, on updates, on desperation)

Blog Metrics/Performance Dashboard

1. Google bought the blog metrics thingy
2. Feedburner. See Typo and Feedburner
3. Stats page
4. Allow visitors to rate the 7Cs

Encrypted Blogs

Ok, this is the real big one that I’m really interested in working on.

There is much need for privacy on blogs. Too many friends of mine have said that there are things they want to say but are afraid to say on their blogs.

A simple encryption tool would have a single, simple purpose: Allow only people with the right keyword to decrypt and read a post.
