My Perfect Day...(Praise God!)

30th May 2006 has got to be one of the most beautiful days of my life… And while I’m ever so concerned of my privacy online, I just have to share this anyway…

6.30am

I get up late, but just in time to close my windows – health department were fogging outside, anti-mosquito drive. Looking out my window, I see a beautiful dawn, the earliest cracks of sunlight shining through. There’s no way to describe in words, but it just stirred within me to give God praise. This is important: Even though I was late… I felt that I just needed to spend some quiet time first. It was wonderful just spending that time in the morning declaring God’s goodness!

7.10am

Kinda late for school. This is the rush hour time that I try to avoid usually. No time for breakfast, no time for coffee… just grabbed my stuff and drove off, and when I hit the main roads, it was… EMPTY! Yeah, its school holidays time, less traffic, bla bla. All the events of today have a logical explanation to how it happened, but consider why.

7.15am

The beautiful sunrise accompanies me all the way to school. And all the way I’m just so amazed by the beauty of God’s creations. Can you believe He spoke light into the world? As I drive along, I spot a rainbow, even as I’m praising God and praying for a bunch of people I know… Again, it just fills me inside. The rainbow, God’s reminder of His promises… indeed they are yes and amen!

7.35am

Arrive in school, early. Found a nice parking. Got myself seated in my personal corner (yeah.. THAT one la), and started to work on my Computer Science programming questions. One of the questions that I have been working on for a couple of days, but there was some bug in it. So I open it up, and within like 20 seconds I see where I got it wrong. Fixed that, ran it, and it worked! Praise God! That’s when I started noticing, that it just felt like a perfect day…

9.00am

So I started getting a bit hungry… I’m a breakfast person :) So well, class starts, Ms Jojo (CompSci lecturer, really nice lady) walks in with… MUFFINS! She goes like “Hi guys, I baked some cakes for you all… for breakfast”. Wow! I mean, I knew she was nice, but I’ve never seen nor heard of any lecturer ever doing something like that for students… And I know God provides, but I’d never imagine the way He’d see to ALL our needs! So that’s how I had some delicious muffins for breakfast, in the most unexpected manner!

10.00am

Brunch after class. Went for Nasi Lemak, and I kinda felt that the lady must be like the most generous Nasi Lemak server around! She gave like lots of everything (at least, compared to my previous experiences at that stall).

11.00am

Back to school to prepare for Comp. Lab. On the way back, I was wondering where to find labs – I have my Powerbook, but the guys with me needed computers. Then I realized it’s the final week of school and most classes would be over by now. Of course, this being the perfect day, we got to use Lab 10 – the newest, nicest computer lab is school.

Started working on Q3 of CompSci lab… kinda typed out MIPS assembly codes for about an hour or so. Ok, for the non-geeks, MIPS assembly is one step away from programming in 1100101010101100. MIPS is tough. MIPS is the only computer science lab that I couldn’t finish in time this entire semester. Debugging MIPS takes hours. It involves running instruction by instruction and observing changes in registers… (oh I give up. Geeks would understand, the rest just nod your heads and smile a bit la..)

Anyway, after writing out the code, I ran it, there was an error. I looked at the code again, and found an obvious typo. Ran again, it worked! Total debug time: 20 seconds. The guys who were there can vouch for it. Totally true. Praise God!

10.59am

Eh, rewind a bit.. I kinda knocked over a 17” LCD monitor while I was putting my bag down in the lab. Caught it just in time as it was somersaulting down :-)

1.00pm

Go for actual Lab, everything works great. Started working on the advanced components (optional materials). Finished that again, debugged it, in record time. I think Big Jon saw my face, and said he’s never seen me that happy about finishing lab. Quite true… Normal labs are no big deal.. but this was done in record time with the best debugging experience ever.

4.30pm

Drive home, clear traffic again. Was kinda hungry nearing home. Remembered there was cake at home! Secret Recipe Chocolate Banana cake! So yeah, nice cold, rich, chocolate cake for a snack… Can’t beat that.

8.00pm

Started working on eBiz assignment, due at midnight. Prayed before I started… God’s just given me a perfect day, and I definitely wanted Him to be by my side as I did the report.

First problem: I had no Internet access. Just shifted and don’t have DSL in this house yet. I asked around and no one I knew had dialup accounts anymore. So I called my sis to help me get a dialup account. In the mean time, I kinda tried to go online with 3G. It was slow and expensive.

Then I remembered we had an old dialup account that I should try. I asked dad for the password – and for the first time in history, he actually knew it! haha!! And guess what? Yep.. IT WORKED!!! I was praying as I went up to my room (2 flights of stairs now, more time to pray. hehe).. and truly, prayer works.

11.30pm

Rushing through all the last minute fixes, fill-ins, formatting with King Shung. Managed to make a LOT of improvement to the report today, and submitted it just in time, around 11.54pm.

It’s hard to describe the rush that comes with submission – this one comes with knowing we’ve put in a great deal of effort, and it’s just beautiful.

midnight

And that was it.. my perfect day, a day of just being in the center of God’s providence and lovingkindness. Undeserved grace, really. Absolutely a joy to know that God’s in control, and He cares for my every need.

As I was just pondering over this day, and all the other times when God met my needs lately, and all the testimonies of how our PG guys are seeing God’s favor over and over again… I’m convinced that my brothers in PG are really praying for each other, and we’re really just seeing the results of that.

The side effect is that I see a new excitement in PG, where we gather to hear each other’s testimonies of God’s goodness. We’re no longer shy to present our needs, big or small.. It’s about seeking God’s presence in our lives, really. And it’s really changing the way we live.

Oh, and all the challenging in Campuscity must have played a big role in this day as well. Faith must keep growing, keep being challenged! Seeding must go on, and for as long as this world remains, there will be sowing and reaping :)

So there, a perfect day, brought to me by God, made possible with praise and prayer… And here’s looking forward to living each day according to His will – He makes all things beautiful in His time!

P/S: Happy Birthday cq! ;)
